About

I'm Alex—a product person, builder, and eternal student. My path has been anything but linear: from studying molecules in Moscow to shipping AI products in Sydney.

What connects it all? An obsession with understanding how things work. Whether it's the quantum behavior of electrons or the attention mechanisms in transformers, I'm happiest when I'm digging into the fundamentals.

These days, I channel that curiosity into building things: AI products at work, educational tools on the side. I believe that if you can't explain something simply, you don't understand it well enough. That's why I build interactive visualizations—they force me to truly understand, and hopefully help others do the same.

THE JOURNEY

Early days

Moldova

Born and raised in Moldova, a small country nestled between Romania and Ukraine. This is where my curiosity about how things work began.

University

Moscow State University

Studied Physical Chemistry at one of the world's oldest universities. Learning to think scientifically—to question, hypothesize, and experiment—shaped how I approach everything today.

2011

Moved to Australia

Made the leap to the other side of the world. Started fresh in a new country, new culture, new opportunities.

2011–2017

SGS

Started as a lab rat, evolved into QA specialist, became the info systems super user extraordinaire. Six years of learning how large organisations work from the ground up.

2017–2019

National Broadband Network

Analysing complex systems at Australia's largest infrastructure project. This is where I developed a knack for breaking down intricate problems and finding patterns in complexity.

2019 →

Commonwealth Bank

Joined CBA to work at the intersection of AI, engineering, and finance. Building products that help millions of Australians manage their financial lives.

THE THREAD

From physical chemistry to AI—it might seem like a strange path. But there's a thread:

In chemistry, I learned that complex phenomena emerge from simple rules. Molecules follow basic physics, yet produce the incredible complexity of life. The same is true for neural networks: simple mathematical operations, repeated at scale, produce intelligence.

That's what fascinates me. And that's what I try to show through my work.
